Laughlin's Law

Words To Live By:

"You are what you choose to be."

"I'm the one who decides what I want out of life."

"You can be whatever you choose to be."

"Put yourself in a different environment and your gonna get different results."

The height of insanity is doing the same thing and thinking the same way but expecting different results."

DETERMINATION- Decide to make it work. NOT "I'll give it a try."

UNCONDITIONAL DECISIONS- Do not put conditions on it, "I'm gonna do it IF this happens." or "I'm gonna do it provided this." Make the decision, "This is what's gonna happen." Then go after it.

"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible." --T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia)

"The great end of life is not knowledge but action." --Henry David Thoreau

"Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out."

"There are no shortcuts to any place worth going."

"There is no failure except in no longer trying."

"The greatest test of courage on earth is to bear defeat without losing heart."

"Things don't turn up in this world unless someone turns them up."

"Life is the sum of all your choices."

Don't confuse stumbling with falling.

What are you waiting for? Do it!

"Fortune befriends the bold."

"One of these days is none of these days."

"Seize the day, and put the least possible trust in tomorrow."

"The future belongs to those who live intensely in the present."

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.

Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself! Face the truth.

You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

Sometimes the road less traveled is less traveled for a reason but you'll never find out without making the journey.

A good plan executed right now is far better then a perfect plan executed next week.

All that we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

The world is your playground. Why aren't you playing.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance.
"I don't want to be a passenger in my own life."

"The only thing that overcomes hard luck is hard work."

Whether you ride it out or work it out, you can overcome bad luck.

"I don't know anything about luck. I've never banked on it, and I'm afraid of people who do. Luck to me is something else: hard work - and realizing what is opportunity and what isn't."

"Luck always seems to be against the man who depends on it."

"You don't just luck into things . . . You build step by step, whether it's friendships or opportunities." --Barbara Bush

"We will either find a way, or make one."--Hannibal

"If you're going through hell, keep going."--Winston Churchill

"Fear is nature's warning signal to get busy."

"If you don't know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else."

"He that wrestles with us strengthens our nerves and sharpens our skill. Our antagonist is our helper." --Edmund Burke

but is a fence over which few leap."

"Take your life in your own hands, and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame."

"I am responsible for my own well-being, my own happiness. The choices and decisions I make regarding my life directly influence the quality of my days."

"Fear not that thy life shall come to an end, but rather that it shall never have a beginning."

"There is no future in any job. The future lies in the man who holds the job."

"The deepest principle of Human Nature is the craving to be appreciated."

"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."

"Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small steps." --Henry Ford

"Little drops of water, little grains of sand/Make the mighty ocean, and the pleasant land."

"Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together."--Vincent van Gogh

Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together.

"Lord grant that I may always desire more than I can accomplish."--Michelangelo

"I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence but it comes from within. It is there all the time."--Anna Freud

"Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance."

"No life is so hard that you can't make it easier by the way you take it."

"I can feel guilty about the past, apprehensive about the future, but only in the present can I act."
"The greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions, and not on our circumstances."

"The person who knows "how" will always have a job. The person who knows "why" will always be his boss."

In order to continue to exist, desire must have it's objects perpetually absent.

It's not the IT that you want, it's the fantasy of IT.

We are only truly happy when day dreaming of future happiness.

Be careful what you wish for, not because you'll get it. But because
you're doomed not to want it once you do.

Living by your wants will never make you happy.

Don't go through life, grow through life.

I learned that if you want to make it bad enough, no matter how bad it is, you can make it.

Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it.

You deserve what you except.

Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them in mutual weirdness and call it love.

All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today.

"After a while you learn the difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul. And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning, and company doesn't mean security, that kisses aren't contracts, and you begin to accept your defeats with your head held high and your eyes wide open with grace not grief. You learn to build your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain and futures have a way of falling down mid-flight. After a while you learn even sunshine burns if you get to much. So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers and you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong, and you really do have worth. And you learn and learn, with every goodbye you learn."

Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.
